Regulatory Association for Social & Territorial Assist (RASTA) is an independent, non-profit & community based voluntary organization working at the grass roots level for participatory development. It was established in 2005 by a group of socially committed like-minded young individuals for the upliftment of the disadvantaged and the underprivileged and a positive response to build capacity of the community and the grass root organizations. It was formally registered in August 2007 as charitable trust under the Indian Trust Act, 1882 in Godda District, Jharkhand.
RASTA endeavors to promote the deprived community and the grass root organizations for people centered, holistic & comprehensive social evolution to achieve self reliance, egalitarian and gender just society through participatory approach and sustainable development and to ensure ecological balance. People in RASTA have the dedication and aptitude to initiate and to persevere on their tasks to uphold human dignity & equitable social structure to enable the women & socially deprived to claim their fundamental rights.
To establish gender-just egalitarian, diseases free, empowered & self-reliant civil society.

The General Body /Executive Committee of RASTA, is comprised of seven members under democratic framework, meets half yearly to review various programmes run/actions taken and approves of any change in the programmes component and /or in implementation mode necessary in consultation of the beneficiary. The executive committee of RASTA is the main unit, which takes administrative decisions and procurement of resources and services, makes policy, approves plans and budget. Annual Action plan of the RASTA initiatives are approved by the GB and based on that activities are initiated. The respective programme in charge and the monitoring team also do the internal monitoring of the programme and the budget. Monthly meeting of organizational staff is a regular feature to review and prepare advance planning.
RASTA believes in teamwork and participatory approach. It believes in community- based approach through which it prepares need-based project by ensuring community share and involvement. So, RASTA form community based organization (CBOs) focusing on women & adolescence and empowered them to effectively undertake the responsibility of implementation & monitoring of development initiatives in the operational area. Depending upon the size of the village, there is one or more such organization in every village. Such organizations intervene in social, economical, cultural& political areas for social transformation while RASTA provides the necessary backup support.
RASTA started social work in Amarapara block of Pakur district (Santhal Pargana region of Jharkhand state) among deprived sections of the society focusing on the tribal, the dalits, women & children especially of deprived families. At present RASTA is also working in remote rural areas of Gridih and Godda district of Jharkhand and Bhagalpur district of Bihar.
